Arakshan - a Review

All is well, suddenly two friends turn foes as they argue on reservation [ once reservation is approved by supreme court for OBCs also [ scene in the movie] ]

Movie can be visualised at 3 junctures

Juncture 1:

All is well, movie starts with deepika showering her love to seeda sadha saif. Suddenly supreme court decision for the OBC reservation turns two college friends (saif and new guy i dont know who he is) into foes with this argument

'C' is the Character representing upper caste, 'B'[saif] representing dalit..., C frustrated says..

C: Insults dalits a lot, says you dont want to put 'Mehnat" effort and want to sneak trhu quota *^&!...

B [Saif] : quiet until now cannot withstand the insults, replies what else we have been doing 1000s of years, we washed your clothes, "App ke liyen mehnat to hi kar rahe hain hum log" "tumhari maa, behn ke doli utaye", "Tumhare liyehn phasal kaate", "joothe polish kiye" ... aur kitna mehnat karvavoge.

c: you fear competing

B: who fears competing, "school ke andar bhi aane nahi diye hazaro saal", yes we shall compete but let the race begin from same line, "let your mother and father leave the comfort zone, come out of suv cars, clean houses and sewage. You work and study simultaneously. Then we shall start..

Via above debate, problems the movie tries to present is known to every tom... sorry ramu, bheemu and shamu of India.

probably common man would have debated more than this based on his personal experiences..

Juncture 2:
Protagonist "A" the principal of esteemed college known for its principles is put in a fix. He is a man of principles and man who sees only humanity and surpassed the realms of caste.
Until decision of supreme court, his stand was something like this, if two people [ X and Y] applied with X scoring 57 % and Y scoring 67%. Y has more chances of getting a seat, but if X has studied in difficult situations, with zero facilities irrespective of caste and religion , he prefers X over Y citing the reason that if X is able to score with such difficulties, if provided guidance and support he will surely score over Y.
He is of the opinion that "jati vaadh ke karan , hazaro ko itne dhin mauka nahi mila tho...", jati vaadh se isko mitana padega. Reservation is alright if not misused. When his wife asks him its unfair for so many people like us.., he says when something has to change we have to pay for it....

Juncture 3:

Protagonist proves that Dalit also has quality by guiding dalit Girl who scores 76% until now was failing to cross 60%.
Protagonist give '5 lakh rupees" to a brahmin student to pay fees in private eng college, as he fails to get any entry in a Govt college bcos of quota system.

To a ordinary viewer it appears
-) that protagonist of the movie takes the stand for the poor and suppressed class or he is unclear whom to support...

But to a matured viewer it appears

Cinema chiefly revolves around four characters
'A' - "Adarsh man" i.e ideal man, played by Amithab bacchan
'B"- Saif, representing dalit sentiments
'C'- new guy that i am not familiar, represents the people affected by reservaton.
'D'- Devil[bajpayee] who takes advantage of situation and caste, does politics and creates differences among people.

Finally movie ends when 'B' and 'C' understand "A" [i.e. ideal for an human being who raise above caste] and work together.

When A, B and C join together, D gets defeated.
